Awareness Month

May 2026

Awareness days and months highlight different health conditions and wellbeing topics throughout the year. They help raise understanding and share useful, trusted information.

These campaigns are a helpful way to stay informed and take small steps to look after your health.

We’ll be sharing key awareness dates and information throughout the year to support you and your family. If you have any concerns, please contact the practice.

Mental Health Awareness

May 2026 marks Mental Health Awareness Month, an annual campaign since 1949 to reduce stigma, raise awareness, and promote emotional well-being.

Skin Cancer Awareness Month

Skin Cancer Awareness Month and Melanoma Awareness Month is dedicated to raising awareness about prevention, early detection, and sun safety. Over 86% of skin cancers are preventable. Key actions include wearing SPF 30+ sunscreen, covering up, and examining your skin for changes

Maternal Mental Health Awareness

Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week highlights that 1 in 5 women in the UK experience mental health issues during pregnancy or the first year after birth. The campaign focuses on reducing stigma, improving access to care, and supporting families facing conditions like antenatal/postnatal depression, anxiety, PTSD, and psychosis.

Coeliac Awareness

Coeliac Awareness is aimed at highlighting that 1 in 100 people have the condition, yet only 36% are diagnosed
